CRISPY KARELA FRY (PAVAKKAI FRY) (serving amount 1)




INGREDIENTS:
Pavakkai ( bitter gourd):1
turmeric powder:1/2 tsp
cumin powder:1tspgaram masala:1tsp
rice flour :1Tbsp
red chilli powder:1/2 tsp
asafoetida :pinch
salt to taste
oil for deep frying
PREPARATION
#cut the bitter gourd in semicircle
#sprinkle salt and leave it for about an hour
#after an hour squeeze out the moisture
#add turmeric powder, cumin powder, garam masala, rice flour, and asafoetida to the bitter gourd and mix well
#heat the oil in a kadai, when the oil is hotdrop in the bitter gourds and deep fry them
#enjoy it with sambar rice

Instead of cumin/garam masala, i added red chilli powder.
it came out very well.Adding the rice flour for the crispiness is good idea. Thanks Jaya.
