BOTTLEGOURD KOOTU (Tamil:sorakkai kootu, serving amount:4)

INGREDIENTS:

Bottle gourd:1
thoor dhal:1/2cup
tomato:1/2
Onion:1/2 (big size)
sambar powder:1 Tbsp(leveled)
curry leaves
mustard seeds
coriander leaves
channa dhal:1tsp
turmeric powder:1/2tsp
asafoetida:1 pinch
oil
salt to taste
TO GRIND:
coconut:2 Tbsp
jeera:1tsp
PREPARATION:
#pressure cook thoor dhal along with turmeric
#grind the coconut and jeera together with little water
#in a thava heat a teaspoon of oil and add the mustard, curry leaves, channa dhal and asafoetida
#add the chopped onions , when the onions are transparent, add the chopped tomatoes
#when r tomatoes are half cooked, add the bottlegourd pieces
#add sambar powder to it
#add one cup of water
#close and allow it to cook for sometime
#5 mins before removing it from fire add the coconut and jeera paste to it
# allow it to boil again for 3 mins
#finally add coriander leaves
#enjoy with rice
